Champions eat culture for breakfast

ME: Not really, read on.
We have been oversold the “cultural tonic” without much guidelines and prescription on how to implement it. In my not-so-humble opinion, a company’s culture splits into several types (I call them the 4 pillars of an organisation’s culture):
1. Internal social culture
2. Internal work culture
3. External social culture
4. External work culture
A lot of companies focus on number 1 aka Internal social culture by introducing free massages, vending machines full of kombucha, beer on tap, free breakfasts & lunches, participations in charitable causes and tend to think they got it right. Whilst introductions of these amenities are great from an employee perspective, for the hungry (whether a leader or an individual contributor like me) amongst us who want to deliver real results and outcomes, focusing on the other 3 types of…
